Music dictation:listen, write, compare.
The 250 dictations from the Müzik Dersim app, right in your browser. Pick a level and the bars play two at a time; write them on paper, then compare with the score.
Which dictation shall we practise?
Pick a level and you get a random dictation from that pool. In one session the same one won't come back until you have heard them all.
Single-line dictation
A single melody plays; you listen and write its notes on paper.
Two-part dictation
Melody on the upper staff, bass on the lower: you write both staves.
How it works
Just like the exam: two bars at a time, then compare.
- 1
Listen to the A
Hear the reference A; you will find the first note from it. Replay it as often as you like.
- 2
Listen and write, two bars at a time
Start plays the first two bars. Repeat plays the same pair again; Continue plays the last pair together with the next one, so you also hear how the bars connect.
- 3
Compare with the score
Once you have heard every bar, open Show Dictation and compare it bar by bar with what you wrote. Play All plays the whole dictation at any time.
While you write
- Catch the rhythm first: count the beats and note the durations, then place the pitches.
- Keep the metronome on. A click on every beat keeps you from losing the downbeat.
- Dictations usually end on the tonic; the last bar helps you confirm the key.
- In two-part dictation, write the upper voice first, then listen for the bass line.
